The role of the police aviation directorate’s air operations in public safety management
Keywords:
Air operations, public safety, peaceful coexistence, sustainable developmentAbstract
The study, which was quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational-causal in nature, examined the impact of DIRAVPOL's air operations on public safety management in Lima, in a context of rising crime and operational restrictions on the air component (low availability of aircraft). With a population of 174 personnel (census sample), two 24-item questionnaires were administered, with content validity assessed by judges and Cronbach's alpha reliability > .80; the analysis was performed using ordinal logistic regression and Nagelkerke's pseudo R². Descriptively, air operations are perceived as heterogeneous (33.3% deficient, 33.3% moderate, and 33.3% efficient), with coordination (37.4% deficient) and execution (35.6% deficient) standing out as critical points. In the dependent variable, a moderate level of management predominates (35.1%), close to deficient (34.5%), with greater weaknesses in execution (37.4% deficient) and command and control (39.7% deficient). In the inferential contrast, the overall model was significant (p = .000) and showed high explanatory power (Nagelkerke = .604); by dimensions, significant incidences were confirmed in personal safety (Nagelkerke = .606), peaceful coexistence (.442), and sustainable development (.326).
